McCain and Obama neck and neck

So, we can finally start talking about the general election, which is probably pointless... but at least it isn't Clinton/Obama anymore. It looks like Obama leads 49-46 at this point. I would think that those numbers are scary to the McCain campaign. You would think that there are quite a few disaffected and disninterested normally Democratic voters, who are either not participating in the poll, or hell, may be claiming that they would prefer McCain to Obama. I really hope that the Clinton speech tomorrow is somehow unifying, but I doubt it. I don't think I've seen her be charismatic in years (if ever).

In other news, Big Brown is taking to the track looking to be the first triple crown winner in 30 years tomorrow afternoon. I won't be watching, which is unfortunate, but I anticipate Big Brown driving it home. If he does win, he will not only break the streak, but may also be the most uninspiring triple crown winner in history.

Anybody Hillary supporter thinking of voting for McCain should consider the real McCain before deciding:

Bush has never liked the American people as a whole since he lost the election in 2000. Yes, lost. Everyone in the USA knows that Gore should have been president. Bush no doubt has gotten mail and e-mails letting him know how we feel. He had no problem dragging us into a war which would cost trillions, and lose lives into the thousands. You see him on tv and he really doesn't appear all that sad about the situations in which he has us embroiled. With McCain saying things like, "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran", which isn't funny in my opinion, even though Hillary said something similiar. To Huckabee saying Obama should maybe duck when he hears a loud blast. And Cheney saying in essense that West Virginians are hillbillies who sleep with their family members. This is an example of what those Republicans have said about we Americans to our faces. Can you imagine what they have said about us behind our backs? And you want to give them 4 more years? Are you crazy? Wake up and smell the coffee, America!

just listened to Hillary's " support obama" speech. NO way. Ofc. of pres. of USA in NOT an OJT type of position. Will wait for Hillary to run in 2012 and support McCain this time.

Apparently, this post has been noticed by some true loonies...

I normally don't reply to anonymous posters, but given the number of them on this post, I'll shoot from the hip a bit.

As to the first poster, I would agree that it doesn't make much sense for a Hillary supporter to support McCain, but I do believe some will.

The second anonymous poster is, I hope, trying to be a funny characture of the hardcore Hillary crowd. If they are being geniune, then I offer a geniune "go to hell."

The third poster is, unfortunately not alone, in rehashing the 2000 election. I think that one's over my friend, and instead of blaming Bush or Nader, try blaming Gore for not running a better campaign. Shit happens, and now we have had that pie for 8 years maybe we can do something about it in 2008.

The final poster actually makes me sad. I am speculating that this is a Hillary supporter, who has now decided Obama doesn't have enough experience. Wake up! Your girl wasn't exactly on the up and up on experience. Defecting to the McCain camp is really quite a drastic move, maybe you could just sit this one out? Do you really want four more years (at least) of Bush 2.0? Yeah, it'll be a little different--- but McCain will know who laid the electoral golden egg and bow to the right wing interests.

I am a former supporter of Hillary Clinton and all my family was and most friends. Through her campaign I got to know more about her than the 8 years she was first lady. I realize she would be excellent for the Presidential office, she had all of what it takes, education, experience, work record for helping better living standards for people. What is so sad is that the DNC, Howard Dean and all the high hogs of the democrat party turned their back on her for someone who is nothing, has done nothing, and really isn't one of us, who was a seed of an athiest and a radical muslim. This really sucks. I am so ashamed of the disgrace the DNC, Howard Dean and super delegates have done that I along with thousands of other disgusted democrats will NEVER support their mutt from Illinois. They have trashed the democrat party. If they wanted a candidate of the black race America has many to choose from that would be excellent for the job without picking a phony Christian with a muslim heart. The black people of this country should be outraged because I don't think Obama comes even close to representing the black American race. Obama is a phony. Well, the DNC turned their back on Hillary and the majority of democrats and now we have turned our backs on the DNC and all the high hogs of the party who turned against the one jewel they had who could beat McCain. They are living in a dream land if they think the Hillary supporters are going to back the mutt. A few might, but most will not. November is coming folks....I can hardly wait to cast my vote for McCain, after all, the DNC handed the victory to McCain when they turned their backs on Hillary who had the MOST votes. Now it is our turn.

spewing forth the lies and vitriol... Starr100, are you sure you aren't a right wing hack down deep inside? I don't care to address your atrocious attempt at writing, nor do I feel it possible to talk you down off of your "Obama is the devil" ledge. I love a free marketplace of ideas, but I truly hope that most are selling your idiocracy short.
